WWII Iwo Jima famed photographer Joe Rosenthal signed photo. Photo depicts a smiling Rosenthal posing beside a ''Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima'' monument in his honor. With an official U.S. Army printed caption to verso describing photo and dating it 1947. 10'' x 8'' glossy black-and-white photo is signed and inscribed in black marker, ''Best wishes to / Samuel A. Kloda / from / Joe Rosenthal''. Also includes a 14 September 1978 typed letter signed on ''San Francisco Chronicle'' letterhead, where the photographer worked until his retirement. 8.5'' x 11'' letter on one page refers to signed photo and is signed ''Joe Rosenthal'' in blue ink. Creasing to top edge of letter, else near fine. Signed photo shows creasing to top left edge and ink notation to verso, else fine.
