Space flown RCA/Astro-Electronics flag from the Space Shuttle STS-7 mission. Black, silver and red flag was flown aboard Challenger in the second of nine successful space flights before the spacecraft's tragic crash on its tenth mission. The historic flight launched 18 June 1983 as the first with a female astronaut, Sally Ride. Flown flag measures 6.25'' x 4''. Mounted to a plaque in a display with photos of the astronauts, the launch and a statement identifying the flag. NASA LOA is affixed to plaque verso bearing the printed signature of the Flight Kit Manager. Plaque measures 9.75'' x 13''. Scratch to plexiglass overlay, else near fine.
