American flag flown aboard the Apollo 10 mission, which served as an ''F-type'' test-run for the Apollo 11 mission. The successful test-run helped to prepare for the upcoming Apollo 11 mission without actually landing on the moon, though coming within 8 miles of the lunar surface. Printed 4'' x 6'' flag is affixed to an official NASA certificate reading: ''This flag traveled on Apollo X with the first LM [Lunar Module] to the moon'' and is signed by each crew member in felt ink, ''Tom Stafford'', ''John Young'' and ''Gene Cernan''. With an additional inscription, likely in Stafford's hand, ''To Ron Swim - With our sincere wishes. Tom - John - Gene''. Certificate measures 9.5'' x 11.5'' framed to an overall size of 15'' x 17''. Some minor toning to certificate, else near fine.
