Master of horror, August Derleth signed first edition of ''Colonel Markesan and Less Pleasant People.'' Collegiate Press: Menasha, WI: 1966. One of only 2,500 first edition copies, with original unclipped dustjacket. Derleth inscribes the front free endpaper in green ink, ''for Paul [?] / a book of tales 35 years old. Sincerely / August Derleth''. Book and dustjacket have been well-preserved, in fine and near fine condition respectively. Very light chipping along top edge of dustjacket only. A delightfully chilling set of short stories.
