The author sketches a portrait of a child in the ''bad hat'' on horseback and inscribes upon the half title page, ''A Marc Antoine with love Ludwig''. Bemelmans was Marc Antoine's godfather. 9'' x 12'' book is bound in red cloth boards with colorful illustrated pastedowns and endpapers. Book and unclipped original dustjacket are in near fine condition.
