Napoleonic General Jean Moreau signed military document as Commander of the 4th Company, 1st Battalion of the 95th Demi-Brigade. His signature: ''Moreau'' certifies the existence of a Joseph Lamanseliare from Soissou and verifies that man's status as active in service. 1pp. partially printed document bears a 95th Demi-Brigade seal near the tail edge and indicates the signing took place at Brissac on 20 Thermidor, in the 8th Year of the French Republic (August 1799). Moreau did not remain loyal to Napoleon, and was banished to America in 1804. Document measures 7.75'' x 9.5''. Toning, creasing and evidence of prior mounting to verso, else near fine.
