Medieval vellum document from Larnagol, France in 1323. Written in Old French, the text mentions the newly-crowned King Charles IV of France. His coronation in 1322 marked the last reign of a 300-year era when France was ruled by men from the House of Capet. Though known as ''the fair'' for his good looks, Charles IV did not produce a surviving male heir to the throne. Single-page document has a few contemporary pencil notations to verso. Irregularly cut sheet measures 9.5'' across at its widest and 5.25'' at its longest. Shows some creasing and crinkling to the right edge. Two small stains to the upper left corner. Very good to near fine.
