A rare chronicle of the ceremony dedicating the obelisk, including transcripts of the speeches delivered. Also printed are letters of reply from invited speakers, both declining and accepting, including a candid letter from keynote speaker Robert C. Winthrop. A sample of the invitation is tipped in behind the front free endpaper. Book runs 122pp. Bound in brown cloth boards with gilt lettering. Measures 7.5'' x 10.5''. Scuffing to front board and spine, overall very good.
