Dwight D. Eisenhower 1942 autograph letter signed. From WWII he writes to his wife Mamie, mentioning acclaimed war correspondent Helen Kirkpatrick. Dating his letter simply Wednesday, he writes: ''Darling: Butch & I sent you & Ruth a couple of presents by a Miss Helen Kirkpatrick, a newspaper friend of Butch's now returning to states. She may stay in N.Y. a few days & the presents will be delayed that much in arrival...Gosh - how busy we are! Last night with the Prime until 1:30. the night before almost no sleep at all. So it goes; but I keep...well. Sometimes though I really get sleepy and yawn in faces. Well sweet - take care of yourself. Thanks for the candy - it came yesterday. As ever yours - only - / Ike''. 2pp. letter measures 6'' x 9''. Creasing, else near fine. Includes original mailing envelope postmarked 1 September 1942.
