Original ticket to the 1886 Inauguration of the Statue of Liberty held in New York harbor. Designed by French sculptor Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi, the statue was a gift of friendship from France. After being shipped over in more than 200 crates, the copper parts were reassembled with the last rivet fitted on 28 October 1886 during this event presided over by President Grover Cleveland. The red ticket reads in full: ''Show This Ticket! Inauguration of the Statue of Liberty. For Steamboat and Admission to the Island and Ramparts. Non Transferable.'' Measures 4.75'' x 3''. Light edge wear and slight bumping to corners, else near fine. A rare surviving piece of iconic Americana.
