Signed French/Belgian version of Margaret Mitchell's sweeping classic ''Gone With The Wind'' (''Autant En Emporte Le Vent''). Softcover first edition published in 1938. The title page is inscribed: ''For Margaret Baugh From Margaret Mitchell with many thanks for work on the Belgian contract. Atlanta, Ga. Jan. 23, 1947''. In a letter dated 17 February 1937, Mitchell conveyed that she no longer would autograph her wildly successful book, not even for relatives or close personal friends. This foreign copy was signed almost ten years later, making it perhaps one of the last copies of ''Gone With the Wind'' signed by Mitchell. Margaret Baugh was the personal secretary of Margaret Mitchell. 828pp. measuring 5.5'' x 8.25''. Mitchell's handwriting here is dark, clear and legible. The book is brittle, and waterstained, though not affecting the signature and inscription. Also included is a period chromolithograph movie still of Scarlett and Rhett, most likely produced as theater lobby decoration. Beautifully protected in a dark green silk faille custom clamshell case with black leather label on spine and titles stamped in gilt.
