Letter reads in part, ''My dear Doctor - Unluckily, I am chained to my desk and as the great pleasure of joining your party April 1 seems beyond me. But I shall be there by wireless. Let me suggest as a subject for debate: 'Which is the happier: the baby yet unborn, or the man just hanged?'...H.L. Mencken''. 2pp. letter on two sheets is matted and framed beneath a photo portrait of Mencken to an overall size of 19'' x 26.5''. Nicks and scratches to dark wood frame.
