King George III document signed. Dated 21 November 1805, less than ten years before mental illness called for his son to rule as Regent, signed document appoints a John Skerritt to the position of Captain in the Royal Newfoundland Fencibles. Signed ''George R'' to the upper left. Partially-printed vellum document is countersigned by several other officials. Measures 15.75'' x 12''. Toning, creasing, minor separation to fold intersections, a chip to the left side near the seal and paper remnants from prior mounting. Very good.
