Established in 1994 to honor those athletes who have contributed to society through their sport endeavors, Ashe was honored posthumously on 10 November 1998. Award reads: ''Sport in Society Hall of Fame / 1998 Inductee / Arthur Ashe / For defining courage and grace in every aspect of your life.
