King Louis XIII document signed, dated 10 September 1618. Document is a warrant signed by Louis XIII soon after his marriage to Anne of Austria. Warrant grants seigniorial rights to the Sieur Desloges and is translated from French, ''Louis, By the grace of God King of France and of Navarre, to Our well beloved and faithful Counsellors, the officers of our accounts at Paris, and treasurers General of France at Poitiers, Greeting. We cause you to know, that desiring to recognise the good and agreeable services of our dear and well beloved Sieur Desloges, Gentleman in Ordinary of our Chamber, for these reasons and others moving us to this, we have made, and do make, a gift to him by these presents, signed with our hand, of the seigniorial rights and feudal dues which belong to us because of the sale of the land and lordship of La Potiere, moving from us by reason of our great Tower of Lusignan in Poitou, at whatever sum, value and estimation that the said rights may amount to. Also we command and order you, to each of you as it concerns him, that you cause the receivers of our domain at Poitiers aforesaid, or on the lands to which it will appertain, to pay, render and deliver to the said Sieur Desloges the sums to which the said rights can amount, without there being deducted or discounted there from anything for the ''tenth penny'' intended for the order and militia of the Holy Spirit, for the construction of our buildings, or for anything or occasion whatever of which we know relief and dispensation, and we relieve and dispense by these said presents; reporting the same as a quittance of the said Sieur Desloges hereupon, which is sufficient by this alone. Our will is that the said receivers, or others who pay, shall have the said sums on being and remaining to that extent quitted and discharged in their accounts, commanding you also to do it without raising impediments, notwithstanding that the sum is not here specified and despite any ordinances, regulations, restrictions, commands, prohibitions and letters contrary hereto: from which we have, in this regard only, derogated, and to derogate, by these said presents, For such is our pleasure. Given at Paris, the tenth day of September, in the reign of grace one thousand six hundred and eighteen, and the ninth of our reign.'' Signed ''Louis'' boldly at close of document. Measures 14.75'' x 8'' with some ink blotting to top and creasing throughout. Very good overall.
