Joan Crawford typed letter signed on her personal stationery, dated 15 January 1963. Letter is addressed ''My dear Mrs. Lahr'' and mentions the classic film, ''What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?'' in which Crawford starred opposite Bette Davis. Reads in full: ''Thank you so much for your charming letter. How kind of you to take time to write to me. It was a pleasure for me to see you and Pattie while I was in Muncie, and I am happy we had our visit together at long last. Thank you too for your kind remarks about 'What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?' I'm so pleased that you enjoyed the film. 'The Caretakers' will be released in February or March. Bless you and all of my best wishes to you and Pattie, and thank you again for your kindnesses and your loyalty.'' Signed ''Joan'' in blue ink, letter on one page measures 6'' x 7''. Mailing fold, else fine. Includes original envelope.
