J. Edgar Hoover signs a first edition of ''Masters of Deceit: The Story of Communism in America and How to Fight It.'' Henry Holt and Co.: New York: 1958. The FBI Director signs on the front free endpaper, ''To Earl Wilson with warm personal regards / J. Edgar Hoover / 2.13.58''. Wilson was an entertainment columnist for the ''New York Post.'' At this time, Hoover's counter intelligence program, aimed at communists among others, was in full swing. 5.75'' x 8.5'' volume with original unclipped dustjacket is in very good condition.
