Hunter S. Thompson autograph letter signed ''Gen. Yunt'', composed 6 October (1966) to his friend Paul Semonin. Thompson writes from Aspen, in part, ''Dear Hubert / I am still trying to gain control after the terrible shock of Norman's wedding. I was forced to perform. Yesterday I made contact with the local black power unit and was punched around very agreeably. / My arrival in NY is a matter of conjecture at this point, due to collapsing fiscal situation. So far I have not been able to clear my head enough to figure it out, but don't count on seeing me until I send definite advance word. Any crazed or unplanned trip won't require a bed at your end, anyway. Don't worry about having to deal with me on short notice. / Sorry to hear about Florika. Keep her away from the shrinks & you won't have any more trouble. / I'll send more word when I get straight. Hunting begins in a week, so that will delay me until at least Nov. / Gen. Yunt''.
