Herbert Hoover typed letter signed as President, dated 3 March 1931 on White House stationery. Letter is addressed to Reverend Paul Hickok of New Jersey and reads in full, ''My dear Mr. Hickok: I do wish to thank you for your letter of fine friendliness and support in the matter of the bonus veto.'' Signed boldly in black ink, ''Herbert Hoover''. The bonus veto mentioned refers to the 1931 Bonus Bill which helped veterans reallocate life insurance terms amid the Great Depression. Though Hoover vetoed it, it was ultimately passed by Congress. Letter on one page measures 7'' x 8.75'' with minor toning, else near fine.
