Rare typed letter signed by Henry Ford and Edsel Ford, addressed to a Ford dealer in Providence, Rhode Island. Dated 1 August 1939 on Ford Motor Company stationery, the Fords write, ''We take this means of extending our congratulations to you as one of the dealers who delivered 100 or more new units during the month of May 1939...'' At this time, Ford was heavily promoting the Mercury 8, a mid-range automobile released in November 1938 designed to fill its market void of appealing to middle class buyers emerging from the Depression. Letter measures 7.75'' x 9.75''. Uniform toning and some dampstaining, but overall in good to very good condition, with the elegant signatures of Henry and Edsel Ford.
