Grover Cleveland document signed as President on 3 July 1886, appointing Andrew F. Fay to the position of Consul to Stettin, Germany. Signed in bold ink, ''Grover Cleveland'' and countersigned by Cleveland's first Secretary of State, Thomas Bayard. Large vellum document measures 22.5'' x 19'' with blind-stamped Great Seal. A few small holes at intersecting folds, otherwise near fine. Accompanied by a cache of other State Department documents owned by Andrew Fay of Illinois.
