Five-star General Maxwell D. Taylor signed first edition of his book ''The Uncertain Trumpet''. Harper & Brothers: New York: 1959. The title page bears his autograph inscription, ''To Frank F. Jordan / with the high esteem of / the author / Maxwell D. Taylor / 25 April 1981''. Taylor was appointed by President Kennedy as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in 1962, and here he writes candidly about his experience in that office at the dawn of the war in Vietnam. Runs 201pp. Custom bound in red leather boards with gilt lettering and ribbed spine. Measures 6''x 8.75''. Near fine.
