Maroon dip pen used by Franklin D. Roosevelt as President. Pen was used on 3 March 1944 to sign H.R. 85 into law, an amendment to a 1927 law which granted pensions for soldiers who served in any Indian war from 1817 to 1898. The pen sits in a slot in the brown wooden frame, next to a typed letter signed on White House stationery by M.C. Latta, Roosevelt's executive clerk at the time, who confers the pen upon retired Lieutenant Colonel D.R. Wolverton. Pen features a silver metal nib to the maroon shaft, and was manufactured by the Dixon pen and pencil company of Jersey City, New Jersey. Frame measures 10.5'' x 12''. Pen measures 8.5'' long. Some chipping to the frame, and slight toning to the letter; very good condition. Pen is near fine.
