Leonidas Polk autograph note signed, ''L. Polk'' to the bottom of an original telegram he received regarding supplies from a Capt. Mallory from Memphis in 1861. Polk writes a note to General Gideon Pillow, asking him to ''write to me a reply''. South-Western Telegraph Co. telegram measures 5.5'' x 8.5''. Ink smudging throughout, including to signature, and mailing folds. Very good.
