Civil War archive featuring Confederate General John B. Floyd's CDV portrait and buttons, with a signed COA for the buttons by a soldier, William R.P. Crocker of the 30th Illinois Infantry. General Floyd lost the crucial Battle of Fort Donelson to General Grant in 1862, the first substantial victory by Grant. CDV portrait of Floyd is by Mathew Brady with an E. Anthony backstamp. The trio of buttons are reportedly from Floyd's personal effects as stated by Crocker's COA: ''Buttons taken from Gen. Floyd's trunk Fort Donelson. This fort was surrendered Feb. 16 1862...Generals Floyd and Pillow escaped with a portion of the garrison. Presented by Wm. R.P. Crocker''. CDV measures 2.5'' x 4''. Toning, minor staining and a bit of abrasion; good condition. Light soiling to buttons, else near fine.
