Large Clark Gable signed photo, measuring 10'' x 13'', taken by photographer Clarence Sinclair Bull of Gable at the start of Gable's WWII service in 1942. Gable is pictured in his Army uniform, and signs the photo in black ink, ''To Esther / from / Clark Gable''. Glossy photo is stamped by MGM on verso with slug, ''Lieutenant Clark Gable of the U.S. Army Air Corps. Newest portrait of former Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer star now on active duty.'' Someone, perhaps Gable, has crossed out part of the slug including Lieutenant, replacing it with Major. Strip of tape to verso, a few surface scratches and some creasing almost all confined to margins. An attractive photo in very good condition. With JSA COA.
