Berenice Abbott silver gelatin print of French artist Marie Laurencin, one of Abbott's earliest portrait photographs from 1926 while working as Man Ray's assistant in Paris. Glossy photo measures 10.25'' x 13.25'', mounted to 16'' x 20'' board upon which Abbott signs in pencil, ''Berenice Abbott''. Also with Abbott's Maine address stamp on verso. Minute discoloration and edgewear to mat, overall in near fine condition. Acquired by John Robert Tennant Sr., photographer for the Smithsonian's National Gallery of Art, and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, and then by descent to consignor.
