Ellery, who signed the Declaration of Independence on behalf of Rhode Island, sat on Rhode Island's Supreme Court and was the first customs collector at the port of Newport. The 6.5'' x 8'' card style letter, written in brown ink, refers to a legal case in which Ellery was involved. Expected folds and minor toning, very good condition.
