Adolf Hitler typed letter signed, datelined Berlin, 12 January 1940 on Hitler's gilt-embossed Nazi stationery. Hitler writes ''party comrade'' Fritz Bauer, thanking him for a sketch by Anton von Werner depicting the Battle of Spicheren. Fought during the Franco-Prussian War, the Germans forced the French to retreat in this key battle, although losses were high on both sides. Letter on bifolium stationery measures 8.25'' x 11.5'', with original mailing envelope included. Fold to letter, else near fine.
