Barstow to Assistant Adjutant General with the rank of Captain; Barstow would later be given a citation for bravery during the Battle of Gettysburg. Dated 6 March 1862, Lincoln signs ''Abraham Lincoln'' above an elaborate engraved vignette. Countersigned by Secretary of War Edwin Stanton. Vellum document has intact blue seal. Measures 14.5'' x 18.5''. In beautiful condition with typical folds and remarkably, no toning. Near fine condition.
