Abraham Lincoln autograph note signed, with an unusual request on behalf of an unnamed soldier. Note reads in full, ''I shall be glad if any Department or Bureau can give employment to this discharged soldier. / A. Lincoln / Dec. 9, 186[3]''. Last number of date is obscured but likely 1863, one day after the Proclamation of Amnesty for Confederate soldiers who took the oath of allegiance to the U.S. government. Note measures 3.25'' x 3.5'', inlaid to a sheet measuring 8'' x 11''. Light smudging, overall very good condition.
